The property

King's Resort opened on 26 June 2003 at Rozvadov, a village on the Czech side of the German border beside the D5 motorway between Prague and Munich. It was founded by Leon Tsoukernik, an art collector and poker player, and was renamed from King's Casino to King's Resort in 2018.

The property holds approximately 400 rooms, some in the five-star hotel inside the casino building itself and the rest in a four-star hotel about a hundred metres away. The gaming space runs to about 6,000 square metres, and the poker room, with more than 160 tables, is described as the largest in Europe. Guests here are usually registered in a tournament, and the building is organised around that fact.

Location

Rozvadov sits directly on the Czech-German frontier at the Waidhaus crossing, two hours from Prague and a little over two hours from Munich by road. This is deliberate: German gambling law is far more restrictive than Czech law, and the resort grew on the border precisely because of it. There is no town to speak of around the resort, and almost everyone arrives by car or on a tournament shuttle.

Rooms and accommodation

Roughly 400 rooms are available across two buildings, with five-star rooms inside the casino building and four-star rooms in the neighbouring Admiral hotel. During major festivals the resort fills completely and rooms are booked out months in advance, which is worth planning around.

Amenities and services

Japanese, Turkish and Swedish saunas, a swimming pool, a fitness studio and spa services are on site, along with an art collection that includes works by Andy Warhol, Vaclav Radimsky and Tony Cragg. The property is adults only.

Restaurants and bars

The Radimsky restaurant is the main dining room, with a bistro and poker room bars for players who are not leaving the table for long. During large festivals the resort runs buffet service to keep several thousand players fed on a tournament schedule.

Entertainment

The entertainment is the tournament schedule. King's hosted the World Series of Poker Europe every year from 2017 to 2022, and the 2017 festival alone drew more than 30,000 players. Outside the major festivals the poker room runs a daily programme, with cash games at a wide range of stakes.

Nearby

The Waidhaus border crossing is immediately west, Plzen is about seventy kilometres east, and the Bohemian Forest is the nearest scenery. Prague and Munich are each roughly a two-hour drive.

Gaming floor open around the clock; tournament schedules are published by the resort

Official site

The casino

The gaming floor covers about 6,000 square metres and holds more than 300 slot machines and over 160 poker tables, together with roulette, blackjack, baccarat and craps. The poker room is the reason the resort exists and is the largest in Europe by table count.

The Czech minimum gambling age is 18 and the resort is adults only. Identification is required at registration, and tournament entry follows the published structure sheets rather than the informal rhythm of a hotel casino floor.

What the operator publishes

  • About 6,000 m2 of gaming space
  • Over 160 poker tables, described as the largest poker room in Europe
  • More than 300 slot machines
  • Hosted the World Series of Poker Europe annually from 2017 to 2022
  • More than 30,000 players attended the 2017 WSOP Europe festival

Casino history

The resort is a direct product of legal geography. Czech law permitted a poker operation on a scale German law did not, and a room a few hundred metres from the border could serve a German customer base without breaking anything. From 2015 the venue began hosting World Series of Poker Circuit events, and from 2017 to 2022 it held the World Series of Poker Europe, which turned a border casino into a fixture of the international tournament calendar.

House rules and entry

Photo identification is required at registration, the minimum age is 18, and the property admits adults only. Dress is casual, in keeping with a room built around tournament play. Tournament rules, structures and house policies are published by the resort.

Age restrictions

18+ (Czech gambling law sets the minimum age at 18)

Casual; the resort is built around tournament poker rather than evening dress

Photo ID is required at registration. The property is adults only.

Responsible gambling

Gambling is entertainment with a price, not a way to make money. Set a budget before you enter, keep it separate from the money you need for the trip, and stop when it is gone. Every casino in this list must offer self-exclusion on request.
