The property

Hilton Tallinn Park opened on 1 June 2016 as the Hilton brand's first hotel in the Baltic states, on the corner of Kreutzwaldi, Gonsiori and Kunder streets at the edge of the park that gives it its name. The building was designed by the Estonian architect Meelis Press, with interiors by Vertti Kivi, and the developer sold it to East Capital Baltic Property Fund III in July 2016 for 48 million euros.

It is a business hotel first, and it behaves like one: floor-to-ceiling windows, a conference floor that takes up to 800 people, a steakhouse, a pool and a spa. What makes it relevant here is the first floor, where Olympic Park Casino occupies 1,600 square metres, the largest Olympic casino in Estonia when it opened. For a Finnish traveller this is the shortest possible route between a Helsinki morning and a roulette table.

Location

The hotel stands in Kesklinn, the central district, about a fifteen-minute walk from the medieval Old Town and roughly the same from the passenger port where the Helsinki ferries dock. Kadriorg park and the Kumu art museum are a short tram ride east. The Viru shopping area, the bus station and the airport road are all within easy reach, which is why the property fills with conference traffic during the week.

Rooms and accommodation

The hotel has 202 rooms, of which 27 are suites. Upper-floor rooms look over the Old Town roofline or towards the harbour, and the design brief was explicitly domestic rather than corporate, with large windows and warm materials.
