The property
Caesars Palace opened on 5 August 1966, developed by Jay Sarno and Stanley Mallin on land owned by Kirk Kerkorian. Sarno's idea was that a resort should be a single themed world rather than a hotel with a casino in it, and the Roman theme, the statuary and the continuous interior were the argument. Every integrated resort built since owes something to it.
The property now lists 3,960 rooms and suites across six towers, with about 124,181 square feet of gaming space, the 4,296-seat Colosseum theatre and the Forum Shops mall of roughly 636,000 square feet. The real estate is owned by Vici Properties and the resort is operated by Caesars Entertainment.
Location
The resort sits at 3570 South Las Vegas Boulevard, on the west side of the Strip between Bellagio and its neighbours to the north, in the densest stretch of the boulevard. The Bellagio fountains are across the street, the High Roller observation wheel is a walk north, and the Convention Center is a short ride away. Harry Reid International Airport is about fifteen minutes by road.

There are 3,960 rooms and suites in six towers: Julius, Nobu, Forum, Palace, Augustus and Octavius. Tower choice matters more than category here, because the towers differ in age, renovation date and walking distance to the casino floor and the pool complex. Entertainment
The Colosseum, built with 4,296 seats for a residency programme, is the anchor, with nightclubs, bars and the pool complex around it. Outside the property, the Strip supplies the rest.
Nearby
Bellagio and its fountains are directly across the boulevard, the Strip promenade runs in both directions, and the High Roller and the Convention Center are within a short ride.

The casino
The casino covers about 124,181 square feet, roughly 11,537 square metres, at the centre of the resort and is open 24 hours. It is operated by Caesars Entertainment under a Nevada licence, with the full range of table games and machines that a Strip property carries.
Nevada law requires players to be 21 or older, and photo identification is checked for payouts and age verification. No dress code is published for the gaming floor. The practical warning for a European visitor is financial rather than social: resort fees, parking and drink policies vary and are set at the property.

Casino history
When Caesars Palace opened in 1966 the Strip was a row of motels with casinos attached. Sarno replaced that with a single themed environment where the gaming floor, the restaurants and the theatre formed one continuous interior, and he decorated it with replica Roman, Greek and Renaissance art to sell the idea. The Forum Shops added retail to the formula in 1992, and the Colosseum added the modern residency show in 2003. Each step was copied, first along the Strip and then in Macau and Singapore.
